The Historic Putnam Hotel Conversion
The historic Putnam Hotel first opened in 1923 in the beautiful city of DeLand, FL. Historians say it was an elegant Mediterranean hotel with 128 rooms, sunrooms, ladies' parlors, and an exquisite dining room. Since its opening, the hotel has passed through several owners renovating the interior but keeping much of the original exterior intact. The hotel has had no residents since 2011 and remained abandoned through the changes of ownership.
As the hotel continued to change ownership, the city of DeLand grew around it. Today it is surrounded by municipal offices, business centers, restaurants and is only a few blocks from Stetson University.
Plans to restore and convert this historic hotel into a community-centered apartment complex are currently underway.
